New Year, Same Me, New Determination!
Updated: Jan 4
Happy New Year! I hope this year brings you hope, peace, rest, and all of your heart's desires.
I must admit, last year I was not as consistent as I wanted to be on this platform. Let's just say that life was life'n. The year started on a high with marrying the love of my life in March and going on the honeymoon of our dreams. Then reality hit when family members faced health challenges. One of those health challenges was my dad being diagnosed with cancer but after a 9-hour surgery, 8 days in the hospital, and 6-weeks of radiation he is in remission. One thing that 2022 taught me is that life is unpredictable, embrace every moment, and acknowledge God's miracles every day (no matter how small).
With that being said, this year I want to focus on one word that will keep me centered and that word is expectation. I am expecting God to do great things in my life. I want to note that I am not expecting great things without putting work behind it. When I say expectation I am simply saying that I will do my part and I am expecting that God will take it from there.
Every year I set intentions for different areas of my life and I would like to share them with you. I also encourage you to do the same. I am a firm believer in accountability. Writing down my intentions not only forces me to strategize and plan but it also holds me accountable on doing my part to fulfill the desire's of my heart.
This year I intend to cook twice a week and take my lunch to work 2-3 times per week. I also plan to continue my fitness journey by exercising 4 times per week. Focusing on my mental health is important to me and I intend on making that a priority by seeing my therapist once a month and meditating on affirmations daily.
Keeping my relationship with members of this community strong is a big focus of 2023. I intend on doing that by posting a blog once a week (the goal is every Wednesday evening) and scheduling out my content on a monthly basis. By doing so I hope to grow the community on the blog, Instagram and Tik Tok. If you are not following me on my other platforms I ask that you consider doing so. My handle both Instagram and Tik Tok is @thecurvypaige. Your girl has begun styling clients and I'm so excited! This was something that unexpectedly happened last year but I have been enjoying it. I would like to take on a few more styling clients this year (message me for a consultation if you are interested). I would also like to work with more brands and increase the amount of speaking engagements. By vocation I work at a community college and oversee the community relations department. To improve on my craft my intention is to read a marketing article once a day and strategize ways to better engage with the community.
I would like to be more consistent and intentional about my devotional and prayer time. I would also like to read at least 12 books this year. I also intend to travel with family and friends. I would like at least one destination to be a place that I have never been.
My husband and I have a goal to increase our emergency savings fund, debt reduction by 25% and legacy building projects.
As you know I am a newlywed and as Jimmie and I discussed in premarital counseling we are in our foundational years. We are creating our family dynamic and learning something new about one another every day. This year we intend to have date night once a week. This date can be an activity (golfing or bowling), trying a new restaurant, or a date night in (cooking together, game night, or movie night). We also intend to participate in couple's counseling quarterly and doing a devotional together.
I hope this encourages you to set your own intentions. Let's make 2023 the best one yet!
The Curvy Paige
